A fascinating history

The estate

In the early 19th century, Moerbeek castle is mentioned on a primitive map.  The street “Moerbeekstraat”, where the castle is located, is even mentioned on Ferraris’ map (1770-1778). Needless to say: our estate has a rich history.

‘Chateau’ Moerbeek

Circa 1841, the name ‘Chateau’ appears in the Atlas des chemins vicinaux. This term is still popularly used. This atlas also includes depictions of rectangular, narrow ponds. These were used as bleachfields. Today, this pond gives the estate a pleasant, playful dynamic.

New castle with greenhouses

25 years later, a new castle is built with adjoining greenhouses. It is characterised by a volume of 5 bays and 3 floors, under a slate gable roof. Its attractive architecture soon made Moerbeek castle a favourite with residents in the wider area.

From castle to manor

The castle is demolished. A little further in the estate, a beautiful manor is built in 1969. The park is also completely transformed in these decades. The reconstruction in country style includes some major park structures, such as the pond, lawns and park woodland.

Modern comfort with a soul

This unique setting for any event is the result of a thorough renovation that was finished in 2022.

Authentic elements, such as the bridge over the pond, the mooring for boats near the grotto and the chapel in the western corner, contribute to the charming atmosphere of the estate. The surroundings and the estate’s story make the manor the ideal mix between modern conveniencies and its rich history.
